Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mt. Batulao is located in Nasugbu, Batangas, the average peak in the area second to Pico de Loro.

In going to Mt. Batulao from Manila, ride the DLTB Bus in Buendia. Its first trip is 3 am P120 fare. approximate time of arrival at the entrance to Mt. Batulao is 4:30 am , this is the same way going to caluerga. there are available CRs in that stop over and shower rooms for P20. there is also Aling Jane Eatery where you can eat while waiting for your guide.

I endorse Mr. Herbert Endozo to be your guide, message him https://www.facebook.com/herbert.endozo?fref=ts

He offers P600 day tour to Mt. Batulao which includes water, sandwich, lunch, registration and guide.

we went there from 7 am to almost 6 pm. from highway to the mt. entrance 15 min. tricycle for P30 per person. then you will walk in the community for 30 mins where you can buy water etc.
you can aslo buy stick guides for P20

you must wear:
light longsleeves
jogging pants/leggings - DONT wear SHORTS
hand gloves for protection
GOOD TREKKING SHOES

you must bring:
alcohol
wet wipes
tissue
first aid kit
candy

the trail to Mt. Batulao is a bit DANGEROUS because it requires climbing using a rope and it's really at the edge of the mountain so there is a big chance that you will fall off the cliff you are not really careful. Dont go there without a guide for safety.

They have created a new way at the new trail so that it would not cause traffic but it's really a long walk. They also offer night trek. and you can also camp there.

The experience is good, the view is majestic, the dirt, dust, mud is all worth it. plus the company of good friends.

I appeal to the government to have some safety structures in that area.

Took the hile and stayed overnight half way up the mountain. It was windy both days and the night was cold (hike was made in February) so remember warm clothes if you are camping out. Several peaks and areas where you needed to have balance due to narrow ledges. The view from the top was spectacular. If you start early in the morning, you can finish the entire hike in about 8 to 10 hours but if you can, view the sunset and sunrise from the mountain. You will not regret it. (There are points along the way where you have to pay fees so remember to bring money. There are guides you can hire at the base of the mountain and if you are unfamiliar with the mountain, I would suggest hiring one.) There are rest stops along the way where some locals sell snacks and drinks but try to bring at least a liter of water. Restrooms are not readily available but there are a few located at a couple of rest stops but you have to pay to use them.

Around 2 hours travel away from Manila where you can reached the jump off point Brgy. Kilaway Nasugbu Batangas. Strong wind on top of the mountain and amazing scenery of landscape and Nasugbu Beach.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 07/03/2019 :
ENTRANCE FEES : 300 Pesos/person/trail (and there is different trails -> pay again).
GUIDE : (COMPULSORY) 500 pesos/person

This amazing trail became a SCAM. We've been with my wife, we met at least 5 filipinos hikers or couples angry going back from the entrance because of the abusive new prices. And it's the price for Filipinos from this area. For foreigners it could be much more expensive. Last but not the least, there's more and more new check-point on the way (= pay again).

It means at MINIMUM 800 pesos (~15$) for ONE trail. Only here. Very greedy people. I met very disapointed Filipinos next to the entrance and nobody can/want pay these abusive fees.

Don't go, it's a full waste of time. There's anothers pretty nice hikes around. If you go, you'll pay transportation for nothing.

They say Mt.Batulao is "beginner-friendly" and considered to be a "minor" climb, but if this is your first hike i would still suggest that you go jogging or hit the gym a month prior to your hike. The trail alternates between steep and flat, and in many parts (especially the descent), can be quite slippery. Many times, I just sat on the ground and scooted down. But the views are amazing, the guides friendly and helpful, and always remember that what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

Bring lots of water (although there are stores in the rest stops along the path that sell drinks), sunblock, gloves (for going up and down the guide ropes), and wet wipes (expect to get really dirty/dusty).

Overall, a fun experience, but not something i would do a second time.

The trail to the summit is not too exhausting. There are two trails on Mt. Batulao – old trail and new trail. The old trail is on the east and the new trail is on the west. The old trail is harder than the new trail as it might require some rappelling.

Things to bring:
• 2 liters of water
• Energy drinks
• Trail food
• Scarfs or caps

It was Feb 16 when we decided to climb Mt. Batulao which I will call “The Grassy Mountain”. For those experienced mountaineers the level of difficulty of this mountain is 4, It was 7:30am when we started the climb, but I recommend that you start earlier than 7:30, they said the ideal time to start is 5:30am. The trail was quite steep and there we’re muddy areas too. And you need to pay a lot of registration before you reach the peak (that’s the sad part)

Mt. Batulao is my very first mountain to climb and my very first travel with my friends. This is very perfect for a newbie like me because it is not so tilt and has a very easy path walk. Unfortunately, I didn't finish it until its last peak because we have another agenda then. But I hope that someday I'll visit it again and promise to finish it until its last peak. Also, please bring a sweater because when you go higher the colder it is, so Enjoy and hope that it will be useful.
Note: I went here last June 2016. , sorry for the late review :)

My friends recommended this as a beginner hike. It was raining during our assault so we bought raincoats. A friend also told me that it was hot during their climb so I didn't bring a jacket. I was crazy to do that. Good thing, during the climb, the sun shone brightly so I was saved from freezing. Our guide was very helpful. He even took nice photos. Although Batulao was really easy compared to other mountains I climbed, one should be still careful.
