This is a place that is as wild as you choose to make it by simply getting further away from the Arniston village. We ran to the military fence and back. There wasn't another foot print to be seen ! Going 3 kmfurther west, from the Baken and driving with a 4x4 along the dune track, brought us to a... More

Unless you want a long walk you must come here by 4x4. You feel that you are at the end of the world. Would probably be a great spot to see the sunset, although not sure about the drive back. Evidence of ilegal abalone fishing, a lot of undersize shells in the dunes.

Even when its weather beaten and storming, nothing can compare to the beauty of the wild ocean, raging against the shoreline, or calm and tranquil. For these dunes I suggest a champagne breakfast picnic - check windfinder for wind reports, if u can catch this beach windless on a summers day u might spend the whole day here. Go for... More

Visited 20 years ago as a kid and always thought it was miles and miles with a 4x4. This time walked and it was 15 minutes if so. Great fishing area. All four caught some fish.

Arniston seems to have the most beautiful soft white sand so the rolling dunes stretching out on both sides of the village are really special. Great for kids to run up and down and try there hand with a cardboard box or board to slide down. Take a sundowner basket and go early evening as the sun sets behind the... More

It's quite a long trek to the very end of "Die Plaat" but those wanting a good work out will enjoy the walk. Partly on loose sand (great for the legs), but also on dunes where the sand is nice and firmly compacted. So much to see along the way, rock pools, lovely beach pebbles, birds (even the rare African... More

Not really walking distance so unless you are fortunate to own a vehicle to get to the furthest point then I would not recommend this trip. Awesome sunset views, or even a brunch on a gas stove is also nice. This area is also occupied by fishermen so if you back a fishing rod then take it with.

- beautiful walks in the dunes easily accessible from the hotel - great view of the fishermen setting off in the early morning tide but the gigantic jellyfish on the beach were not so appealing

The feel of sand under my feet, the warmth of the sun, and the fresh sea breeze made me feel like I was in a far away island. the air is just so clean and fresh like nowhere else.

Loved our time spent wandering the dunes, shoreline and cliffs. Check out the Chimney Cave for a unique view over the ocean back toward the shore.
