More
The Matakana War Memorial has stood in the village for over 95 years. Sculptured by W. H. Feldon from Oamaru Stone, it was dedicated on 20th April 1920 by The Right Honourable Joseph Gordon Coates MC MP, the 21st Prime Minister of New Zealand. Situated in a lovely riverside park with excellent access and paths. Well worth a visit.

Nice place to visit right in the heart of Matakana. After ANZAC day on 25th April always lots,of wreaths and displays to look at as well as the statue of King George V.

Lovely ceremony with locals talking about local men and their families. It was a very touching and rural experience.

it is a good landmark. it is a statue that lost its head at least once. it is a very good piece of history, unfortunately some of the locals love cutting its head off.

I went there with my girlfriend and another friend. He had few ancestors buried there and told us about the gruesome history. Kudos to those soldiers
