Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful natural area. Aside from the botanical garden is a path of 40 min to the top. Good to do. Back down , halfway you can do the circular walk very tough walk . Lots of climbing and scrambling work. But beautiful views.
At the entrance of the park you can buy tickets from a not too friendly gentleman. Then you follow a dirt road with bumps and bulges for 6 km. Then you come to the mountain area for hiking. Very nice. There is a toilet but don't suggest too much of that. There are no trash cans and therefore 1 toilet was full of waste

If you are in the vicinity and have some spare time, visit Velebit. The views from the top are spectacular and the drive down the mountain is amazing. Great photo opportunity and on a good day you can see Italy in the distance.

For anyone loving nature - this is a MUST GO! Winter wonderland!!! Fabulous nature, wild and pretty at the same time! We were not (un)lucky enough to see some wild animals but it was fantastic adventure and perfect hiking trip! Yes of course it was cold but not too cold so we could really enjoy.
We were walking from Bacic sica where normally is ticket point for national park Northern Velebit to Vucjak peak where is Mountaineer house Zavizan and back.

The Velebit is definitely a must place once in your life for all fans of hiking. We visited the mountains in autumn time. If you take into account that in this area just 9 people / km2 are living and you visiting the Velebit not in the touristic season you’ll feel away from civilization. It’s like in far eastern Europe like in Lithuania or in the north of Norway. The landscape changed between wide and open valleys and close and dark wooden mountains. And in between sometimes a small village with some old people selling honey and cheese. It’s definitely helpful to know some basic Croatian language or, even better, chose a guided tour.
I’m happy to get your feedback.

You most get ready to go there and probably have at least three days. I went to Gospic and then I took a two day walk/hike to the top. It is a big chalange. Trust me :)

Love this clean nature, the silence and the time to spend there is worth. It is a place that you should visit if you love nature and in love with non-modern staff.

Even the birds are quiet...and you feel like be silent, too.
Start from Gornji Karin ( Karinsko More or Karinsko Lake ) and follow road nr. 27 untill you see the sign for Krupa Monastery ( road nr.6027 ). Before reaching the monastry ( you are already in Velebit National Park ), you'll find a parking place, right and left. There is Kanjon Krnjeza - Canyon Krnjeza, work of Krupa River. It's majestic and silent... look around you.
if you are into sport, there are mountain bike trails and signs of possibility of kayakking, too. Ask around.
On your way back to Karinsko Lake, the ugly scars of the last war are staring at you. Creepy. All you can do is keep a deep silence for the victims...

At first it is the incredible feeling to go up from zero to tausend meters, coming from the sea. If you have travelled on the top turn back and take the view that you never had before.. Cows, horses, sheep's, etc. Ist so amazing!!
I do not know, if it is legal.. But I traveled there also hundreds of km with my motorbike.. Enduro-tour pure, phantastisch, one love!!

We spend two days hiking southern part of this beautiful mountain. Sveto Brdo first day (total cca.5 hrs) and Staza Malog Princa (total cca. 6hrs) the next day. Untouched nature and amazing views. Demanded, certain fitness required.

Beautiful and unpolluted nature. Exceptional landscapes, especially if you are in solid condition and climb to some of the nearby peaks. There are many marked hiking trails for 7-8 hours to walk without having to meet anyone except snake, dormouse, deer or wild goat. I recommend visiting Baške Oštarije and surrounding peaks (Kiza, Ljubičko brdo, Metla, Veliki Sadikovac, ...). Baske Oštarije is a small place with only a couple of dozens of permanent residents, so they have only one hostel with a good restaurant. It's best to buy the groceries you need in the town of Gospić that is 20 minutes away by car or the same distant Karlobag on the seashore. It is worth to try Lička lamb and Velebitsko beer. In small local diaries you can try and buy excellent domestic cow and goat cheese of all kinds.

Is there an admission fee, and if so, how much is it for adults and seniors? Where would we go to pay the fee?
Thank you
Written 16 April 2018
Sorry, didn’t saw your question before :(.
There is a fee if you go to Northern Velebit national park and I think it is 50 kunas (7 euros) for adults, half the price for younger than 18.

tra il 26 ed il 28 di dicembre volevo fare una visita al parco Velebit e volevo chiedere se fosse possibile, inoltre volevo chiedere se si potesse andare privatamente senza contattare nessuno e fare il trekking sul monte velebit.
