Walking and sight seeing

On a beautiful late September morning we enjoyed a wonderful walk on this almost deserted beech. The tide was out and the beach was spotlessly clean. We loved it there.

A quick sprint in the spray with dogs and 3 generations of family, to blow away the cobwebs and work up an appetite for dinner. Perfection.

I visited owenahincha last 25 years ago.It was a thriving seaside resort.Im shocked at what it has become. The owenahincha hotel is no more,so no where to get a spot of lunch, not even an open bar here now.I spoke to a local and apparently this lovely little spot has been decimated by the poor business acumen of one local man.Such a... Swim between flags. Great for rock pooling at low tides. Flat stones for skimming. 2beaches become 1 at low tide. Good for surfing too. One public toilet and convenience shop with chipper.

This is really a three beach heaven right on the Wild Atlantic Way. All 3 beaches are presided over by the imposing ruin of Castlefreke the historical home of the Lords Carbery. The Freke family were the major landlords in this area with their title emanating from the nearby village of Rosscarbery. Approaching from Rosscarbery , the first beach is... More

WOW.....This is so beautiful on a warm sunny day like today it simply takes your breath away. The road around the bay is a bit wiggly and in places narrow so drive carefully, but so worth the effort
