About

If you want to see flamingoes, rice fields and suntan + swim in the sea, I recommend going to l'eucaliptus beach (it has one shower at the end of the beach, where road starts and really few people in compare to other beaches. Then you can go to la tancada to see flamingoes and other wild birds. You will see rice fields all over the area of Ebro delta.

I wish that I knew more about birds to really appreciate everything that we saw on the Ebro Delta. The flamingos were magnificent!

This is a gorgeous small hotel. There is outdoor dining and bar. We only had the breakfast but understand the dinners are award winning. All staff were very helpful when asked but in the Spanish way of leaving you alone otherwise.

We were intrigued by the descriptions of rice paddies and birds, and looked into kayaking, but in the end were very happy that we simply drove to Eucalyptus beach, along which you can drive a fair way, parked 50m from the sea, and then walked along the beach for a long way, and went swimming. There was about 1 car every 100m, so the beach felt empty, and this is a *really* gorgeous pure sand beach. Reminded us of Washington State pacific beaches except for the weather and water temperature!
We then drove along the narrow spit that connects to an island (which one cannot access)---fun driving across a relatively narrow spit with water on both sides, constantly reminding ourselves that there are no tides in the Mediterranean.
Finally, we drove by some wetlands, where there were large flocks of flamingos in the distance, and about 15-20 nearby. Fun to watch them eat and preen.
Overall, a very relaxing place, although do not expect wilderness.

Just drive about ten kilometers east from Sant Carles de la Ràpila east on the narrow road nearest the see shore and there they are - many hundreds of flamingos together with various kinds of storks and other sea birds in the salt water ponds just by the sea shore. An unbelievable view! You may also want to cross the mighty river l´Ebre at Sant Jaume d´Enveja. There is a good parking place almost under the rather small but high bridge where you can stop to admire the river.

I visited that park in November 2017. I slept in Deltebre village and i could visit all that park. I think you can see amazing sunset near "Laguna de la Tancada". Colors are really spectacular and full of birds like flamingo singing. Another park you have to visit is Fangar lighthouse and bay. You can enjoy his dunes and his peaceful. All that park it's full of a tower where you can see panoramas and nice views. It was really a nice surprise, i think too that it's a good place for families because almost all places are without cars and kids can discover and see all that fauna.

This is a lovely place to visit. We took the 4km long sandy beach road that joins the delta to the salt-producing island in the Southern corner. You feel as though you're almost alone on this beach, something I never thought I'd see in this part of Spain in August! There's a great village, El Poble Nou del Delta, which is like something from the Far West. There's nothing but flat rice fields, lagoons and a few houses, for ages and then you come across this single-storey, white-washed village with it's central church (shame this wasn't open) with some great restaurants. We ate one of the best Paellas ever in one of these restaurants. Just don't forget the mosquito repelent when you get out of the car or arrive by bike! There are hides for bird-watching fans around the various lagoons. A lovely surprise during our Spanish holiday.

Other than the beautiful scenery, and world class birdwatching, there is little to say.... deserted beaches, friendly bars& restaurants, good wine. I recommend this area to all who love the outdoors, beaches, water sports, food etc.

This area is a wonderful place to visit but visitiors would be advised to have a sat nav or similar device as it is easy to get lost.
It is a very flat area that is covered in Paddy Fields that produce a large quantity of the countries rice. There is an abundance of wild birds including Flamingos..
There is boat trips on the river, loads of good restaurants and gift shops.
It is well worth a visit.

Hi there,
I'm thinking of visiting the delta sometime in December, and I was wondering if it's a good month.. Has anyone been in that time of the year?
are there still flamingos around? How would the vegetation be in winter?
Thanks for your tips!
