Really impressive - do not miss!

On the one hand, I'm glad I experienced the women's choir and the dancing/sward fighting men. On the other hand, it lacked passion and felt like a show put on for the tourists rather than something that might still happen in Croatian communities. The idea of a Christian/Muslim battle, balanced by knightly respect, was interesting to see play out in... More

I must admit that I wasn't too sure when my partner suggested this, as I thought it was going to be like Russian sword dancing - it is not! A lot fiercer, faster, and exciting! You could see the sparks fly off the swords and the physical energy of the players to make it look realistic was impressive. A slow... More

Traditional sword dance of Korcula Island. If you have a chance go and see it. It is the best experience that you can get.

The moreška is a series of sword dances telling the story of a kidnapped girl, her captor's attempts to woo her and the battles that eventually lead to her release and restoration to her first (and true) love. It's alternately dramatic and stately. The tradition goes back several centuries and may well symbolize cultural and political conflicts. Especially connected with... More

We read about the famous 400 year old traditional sword dancing and happened to be in town on a Thursday evening. Tickets are 100kn/$15usd. We arrived about 15 min early with many seats left in the middle to back rows. The show started a little after posted 9pm start time. A woman made announcements in 5 different languages. Took a... Great experience, stunning to watch, lots of sparks from the clashing swords flying. It is a great show but you better come earlier to get a good seat.

I hardly dare to say it because all local people like it very much. But for us it was a nice thing but a bit overrated. Anyway, if you are in town for more Ghana night, you should visit it

A real spectacle performed every Thursday night at 9pm by Croatian male dancers wielding lethally sharp swords with which they enact a battle between Crusaders and Moors (very topical!) to rescue a damsel in distress. It is absolutely stunning to watch and listen to the accompanying folk music telling the story. This tableau is set on the harbour in Korkula... More

Brilliant really enjoyed this show so did my 15 year old son. Get there early to get a good seat as when we got there first there was lots having to stand and sit on the floor. Apparently this was because the band was down stairs instead of up on the verandah. Really entertaining and although not in English you... More
