Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Place we were staying recommended. We went to the last presentation for 2019. For me, the beginning was a bit confusing (recommend you get a script in your language). Even with script, I was slow to catch on to what was happening. Don't worry if this happens to you. Pay attention and enjoy. My wife kept me up-to-date on what was going on.
I has been 5 months since we went and are still talking about it. So glad we did this show/play.
One thing that made this show/play so great was our seat location (location, location, location). Likely depends on venue. But, in Korcula, there are two sections of chairs/bleachers in the courtyard where show/play is done. Luckily, we sat in the second row center (note: first and second rows were verbally warned about moving back due flying debris, really! some moved, most did not). I thought second row was great. Why? #1 you can duck behind the person in front if iron starts flying, #2 you are very close to the actors and can see their faces (heavy with perspiration), and banging of iron swords striking each other (causing sparks). Next, the best side is the bleach side, without the band.
Most of the non-motion play is done close to that side (we were told to sit there, and it was great). I saw sparks coming of swords. Dance is so intense that there are fresh actors waiting on the sides to take over for actors that are exhausted. Great customs. I think we were overwhelmed with this play due to the seats we had. So close to the action. Center or Rear seats could not be as intense.

Originating in Spain, Moreška is a traditional sword dance and drama that depicts two kings and their conflict as one captures the fiancée of the other. It was common throughout the Mediterranean in the 12th and 13th centuries, reaching Korčula in the 16th century from Italy and Dubrovnik. Over time the Mediterranean’s interest in Moreška dwindled, and now the dance can only be found in Korčula, where it has been performed for over four-hundred years.
The Moreška Sword Dance takes place on certain nights, so be sure to check when there’s a performance. I bought my tickets from the reception desk at the Port 9 Hotel where we stayed. The performance was held in a small open-air theatre outside the old town to the left of the Land Gate.
Tickets cost 100KN (£12.50) each.

This is a very classy and beautiful piece of culture to view. Locals volunteer to keep up this tradition, and it is rather taxing effort. If you are looking for a simple cultural representation and easy story, this is it!!!

Unforgettable! We arrived in time for a performance that same night. Our host showed us the way. Wonderful from the first note from the large band all attired in white, instruments gleaming. The dancing was unbelievable. Two kings with their loyal followers fighting over a woman! Story line easy to follow, we watched as the tempo grew. Swords flashed and sparks flew. What an amazing spectacle. History ignited. We are so glad we were lucky enough to see this show. Etched forever in our memory.

Really poor Croatian singing (which we were not told about before hand) and average dancing.
Very commercialised - ten years ago this was free and within the city walls. Happy to help keep traditional culture alive, but i would have prefered to pay a small entry fee to get into Korcula Town and have seen the dancing in situe in the city, not on a stage outside of the city walls.

Don’t miss this special display of talent and history. So glad we purchased tickets. Support the men and women that keep history alive. The venue is magical! I think it is a seasonal event.

About an hour show, starting with a local concert band, followed by local singers, then the dancing. Starts a bit slowly, but as the 'fighting' part of the dance get going, the moves are spectacular. All dancers really put everything into it. Sparks really do fly from the weapons used. Followed the good advice from previous reviewers, getting to the green door to the left of the gatehouse at about 8:30.

A costume show with some traditional sword dancing. Would have liked more if it was of shorter duration and not as expensive (HRK 100).

Hi - where do you actually buy tickets for this? I have seen it on various tour operator sites, but wondering what the 'official' ticket place is... or do you just buy when you go there?

You buy the tickets by the door. It’s on the left of the big stairs in Old Town. Be there 30 minutes ish before the show starts so you’ll get a good seat (on the left side).
