Staying nearby and saw the AA's yellow road signs for Osprey Viewpoint so called in for a look. It is quite a strenuous walk up through the wood to reach to viewpoint manned by a very knowledgeable ranger who had set up telescopes to view...More

I’m glad we managed to eventually get here. It had been raining the day before and on and off on the day of our visit. But braving the elements and walking upto the lower and higher viewpoints is worth the effort. The views are exceptional....More

People manning to watch points were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Nice walk to summit. Car park prices somewhat high but as it goes towards upkeep of wood we weren’t too unhappy

Brief visit whilst cycling around Bassenthwaite. Lovely tracks through the wood. Fab views higher up. No ospreys that day but lovely place.

Spent over 6 hours here to see bird life and Ospreys. There are designated view points to try to see Opsreys, we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the one who has returned this year. The walk to the view points is very challenging....More

This should have been good but was ruined by the total lack of signage on the paths. The hillside is a maze of completely unlabelled tracks. The maps for the location of lookout points are inaccurate and useless. We wondered around for ages trying to...More

Unfortunately one of the main paths was blocked off so we couldn't walk there. Decided to walk up part of the hill and visited one of the osprey lookouts. Great views across the lake from there. Overall, it was an ok place but found it...More

Was looking forward to visiting here after driving past a couple of times on our holiday in the Lakes. Lovely place, very friendly and helpful staff... only issue was that most walk routes were closed for Forestry work. Shame, will re-visit.

The walk was pleasant but was all uphill (works out those calves!) and only took us about 1 hour or so to do both viewing points. We unfortunately didnt see any osprey today. The staff that were around said that the osprey havent mated or...More

Hi Becky About £3-4 for a couple of hours. The ospreys have possibly all flown for the winter but the views were spectacular. The walk itself was great on either route and the Old Sawmill coffee shop was great. There is... More
