Description:

Trotters World of Animals has rebranded to become the Lake District...

Trotters World of Animals has rebranded to become the Lake District Wildlife Park, representing the transition from its early days as a farm park. Today, emphasis is very much on conservation, education and engaging with visitors - our Keepers are keen to talk and enjoy passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm. Wander around our beautiful 24 acre parkland and see over 100 species. The magical Bird of Prey flying displays have been a regular feature since the park opened and we have gathered an eclectic mix of over 100 species from Anaconda to Zebra. The Granddad of the park is Brian the Lar Gibbon - he is the oldest in Europe and has pride of place in the centre of the park where he and his family can be seen swinging from the massive Oak tree. We joined the Zoo Federation (now BIAZA) in 2002 and over the years we have successfully worked with Zoo stud books to breed rarer species like Canadian Lynx, Asian Fishing Cats and Ring Tailed Lemurs to name just three.

What a wonderful little zoo with lots of interesting animals - the Meerkats were, as ever, amusing. The birds of prey display was very interesting. There is a small restaurant which serves plain but hearty food. Well worth a visit.

We have just been to the lake district wildlife park again. The birds of prey demonstration with John was absolutely amazing as it always is. It's nice to see someone so good at his job and so dedicated to the birds do the flying. Every time we go the talk is different and John involves the audience too. We can't... More

Hi there Thank you for such a lovely message :) Glad that you enjoyed the display, John is delighted to be back to normal now after the bird flu restrictions. Do book yourselves onto a hawk walk next time, I think you'll get so much out of it. More

We have children who are 14 and 12 and as such have visited many wildlife parks over the years. As we were on holiday in the lakes with our wider family (including a 2 year old) we came here. It's not huge, but is pleasant and has an interesting selection of animals, some of which i ha entry seen before.... More

We decided that after Wastwater we needed to go somewhere for a quick visit. And this was the consensus. This is a brilliant little zoo, the animals do seem to be happy and well treated. The exhibits were fascinating. We watched the bird keeper have a little talk about some of the birds of prey that were there. The staff... More

Visited here about 15 years ago when it was Trotters World of Animals. Some good enclosures. It's better now. Unfortunately the cafe is serving gone off food. The baps/rolls were mouldy. I requested a refund. Worth a half day visit.

The park is an ideal place for adults or children wishing to start off learning about wild animals as they have a good basic range of wildlife and the staff will educate you on the wildlife if required it is not the biggest wildlife park however if you take your time you can spend a very pleasant couple of hours.

Really nice place to walk around if you are in the area. Really good selection of animals with a good cafe and shop on site too. Easy to get to and parking is free. The monkeys made us laugh a lot and the kids loved it. Really good!

Came here in half term and what a great day we had! Lots of things to do, indoor play area and talks or shows every 30minutes which made the day fly by! We held a bunny, saw two bird shoes and even got to touch a snake, my 5 yr old loved the crafts that were in the 'green barn'... More
