Introduced my husband to Warkworth on our recent holiday up North. We used the audio guide for the castle which filled in some of the areas rich history. We were lucky enough that the hermitage was accessible on the day we visited. The little rowing...More

There are lovely views from the castle and despite there not being much left of the castle, it is an excellent example of a castle ruin. You can certainly imagine what it must have been like hundreds of years ago. There is a nice little...More

It is amazing how many well conserved castles there are in Northumberland. This is an example, albeit with some work having been done over the years. There is an audio tour option or, if you have a small child who won't let you listen(!), you...More

Driving up the Northumberland coast, we were hoping for some scenic surprises, and this was the first. The coast road is surprisingly far from the coast for the most part. This place made up for it. Well worth stopping for a wander around. Beautiful village...More

Members get in free. Photogenic. Many places to hide the children then run off. Parking and toilets are just outside.

A gorgeous day spent in and around Warkworth, starting with the castle. Used our English Heritage membership to avoid paying £8 each (approx) to enjoy this very well preserved historical building. PS Don't forget to reclaim your £3.10 all day parking fee from the ticket...More

This is a much better experience than visiting Alnwick Castle, the other home of the Percy family, which was far too sanitised and commercialised for us. You can let your imagination run riot as you scramble around the different parts of the castle. The areas...More

Adults are £5.80, children between 5-15 are £3.40, and a family (2+3) is £15.00. The Concession rate is just barely a concession at £5.20. If you have an English Heritage membership, entrance is free. I hope you enjoy it!
