This was one of our favorite bays. Quiet and good snorkeling. Very relaxed vibe and all the places to eat you have your toes in the sand. We ate at the pink house which is run by Vanessa. The meal is served family style and you order your meals in the afternoon. Make sure to order lobster right when you arrive if that is what you want for dinner, We didn't order soon enough but the table next door did and it smelled delicious. Drinks are made with love by Vanessa. One of our favorite nights.

Compared to the relative bustle of Clifton, this bay is seriously quiet. Reminds you of what these islands were like 30+ years ago. On January 1 we were one of ten boats at anchor. There is a small hotel and a few beach bars, but the title of this review describes it.

Chatham Bay
This bay is secluded and no roads from the rest of Union Island come down to the beach. It makes a great anchorage for sailing ships. I have traveled here on Island Windjammers ship Diamant several times. A small bar and restaurant is on the left side of the beach and sometimes has music in the evening. Lounge chairs with the fabric ripped out are next to the bar. Not sure their purpose except maybe to lure sailors onto the beach or bar.
Aside from the beach the activity is limited to hiking up the hill for a view or pictures of the bay and snorkeling. The snorkeling here is world class if a storm has not stirred up the waters. Starting from the beach in front of the bar work your way along the rocky shoreline. You will see all manner of sea life. I have seen schools of fish so thick you could not see through them, lobster, lion fish, trumpet fish, puffers, angel fish and numerous other spices. Once I snorkeled over a large shark only five or six feet below me. Large sea turtles are common.

Vanessa approached our boat just after we dropped anchor. We were enchanted by her smile and genuineness. We went in for happy hour and ended up with several Hairoun Beers and awesome fish fritters.....came back for a great lunch and several long round of beer. Look, this place is awesome. Seccki and Vanessa go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the food is great. Next trip, we'll likely return to this charming bay and Secki & Vanessa's....even if it means a day or two detour. Great snorkeling on the sides of the bay. BTW, skip overpriced Aqua.....three times the price and not nearly as good.

We went 3 times. First time when we arrived with our boat. A boat boy called Philippe offer us ( 3 differents boat) to charge 160 ec ( 6 persons) to go to Ashton for the clearance . When we said we have an anniversary he called his boss to negociate something special. He drive us directly to the airport, help to manage clearance ( was easy and fast). Let us the time for lunch and came back to drive us to Chatam with smalll tour of the island. For the diner he maid a all inclusive bbq buffet and offer a cake made by his’wife...everything was perfect...James ( the boss) and Ball head ( his brother) are the best. The place is clean with deck ( only one) and warm lignt...Do not hésitate, when you arrive by boat , ask for Philippe ( « ball head » boat ). If you need a special diner ask him, he will manage everything with smile, At the night everything will be on place ar the exact time you ask. If special diner you could be sure to get a surprises. You’ll get the best ribs, fish, chiken and lobster. Philippe is the bbq king. The riz is the best i never eat on beach restaurant. Give hello from Pascal if you find time ( take it!!) to talk with this best team.

We are frequent bareboat charterers and although Clifton harbor is not a favorite, Chatham Bay always is. We love the tranquility of the bay and the wonderful local dinner experience we always get with Secki and Vanessa. Again this year, Secki was there to greet us after we anchored, and offered to cook dinner on the beach. We used to put the dinghy on the beach, but now Secki has a dinghy dock, very convenient! We were four people, 2 of us had grouper, 1 had chicken, the other had ribs, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Vanessa wasn't there unfortunately that night but Secki did her proud and was a great host. We love this guy! And the setting is beautiful and so peaceful!

Extremely secluded beach. Beautiful scenery, but not so great for swimming, as it was pretty full of coral and sea urchins. Many local restaurants to choose from serving local dishes, family style. Youll feel like a local here. Great hospitality from the shop owners. Cool vibes while you wait as food is prepared fresh. Fish is caught on the spot and prepared. Music and entertainment is incredible

This bay is really a gem, not too many other boats, normally very protected and a way to get away from the constant wave motion that you find in many other places in the region. It has a relaxing beach to hang out on, good snorkeling along the both headlands and last but not least Seckie and Vanessa's beach barbeque in the pink house in the middle of the beach. Dinner there while watching the sunset is a highlight of every stay for us.

We anchored in Chatham Bay in August. We were approached by one of the employees of Sunset Cove Restaurant and Bar and invited to try them out for dinner. They also offered to sell us ice (which we took them up on). They made a reservation for us later that evening. When we arrived there was a table set up for us with a beautiful view of the sunset and our boat. Adele, Andrew and Ken were very attentive to our needs, yet gave us space to enjoy our dinner together. The dinner was delicious and the banana fritters that they brought us for dessert were an added treat! I really enjoyed how friendly they were. I would recommend this for a nice place to eat and enjoy a drink with a view. I hope to return someday.

Not that we saw but the hills are a bit steep for cycling.
