South of Bahia Tour

This trip will take you to the south of Bahia to visit the historic town of Porto Seguro, the charming Trancoso and nearby beaches. Porto Seguro is within the area where the Portuguese explorer, Pedro Alvares Cabral, first set foot on the Brazilian soil in year 1500, meeting the native Pataxo tribe who still live here. The local coastline is protected by reefs, the ocean is shallow, calm and crystal clear. Trancoso is situated on a foothill overlooking beautiful beaches, cliffs, rivers and coconut groves. This charming beach town is accessible by an unpaved road from Porto Seguro, the trip takes about 1,5h. The vibrant Quadrado is magical in the evening, with live music and restaurants. Dive into a Bahian discovery trip topped by outstanding natural beauty and relaxation. The trip can be done year-round – a perfect escape to a laid-back beach town and a bit of Brazilian culture.

Long Beach, but nothing special. Rocks in some áreas (more south). Only few Locations with natural shadow and Palm trees. It is Caraiva with his spirit and the Bars „making“ the Beach living and to a Party Zone.

I'll be brief. The village is small and somewhat dirty. Everything, from the welcome boat river crossing to the dinner restaurant is grossly overpriced (I am not ignoring the quality of food and service). There is an vivid culture to maximize tourists' exploitation. The beach is ordinary at best. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

It takes 1 hour from trancoso to get to the other side of the river from where the beach is. The road is a nightmare of potholes in a dirty road. A 4x4 is a must. Some parts are flooded and requires serious patience. The town has absolutely nothing to see. Poverty and dusty. If beach is what you are looking for take a boat or go to espelho or trancoso itself. No worth the stress and petrol.

Caraiva Beach it's just amazing to see how a river goes into the sea. There's plenty of space for you to take a sunbathe or catch waves. You can enjoy the hippie vibe of the place, dance forró and stare to the horizon with beautiful sunsets.

Go for a walk during the low tide in order to see the coral reefs and enjoy the natural pools that form along the coast. It is a nice, peaceful walk.
