You can't possibly visit this part of Romania without visiting the painted monasteries. Even for the non-religious, you can't but wonder at these works of art, and the dedication of those working to preserve this unique piece of history

I like it better than Voronet, which is more famous. Sucevita is very colorful and has an oriental style. It's my favorite in Bucovina.

While for good reasons Voronet is the Pearl of Bucovina when it comes to monasteries, Sucevita is by far my preferred one. The interior painting in Sucevita is phenomenal, and Maica Maria Mi is an encyclopedia. Not to be missed.
