Although a little bit off the beaten track, it doesn't take much effort to find this amazing place and the drive here is beautiful. We did the self guided geothermal tour. After an initial 2 minute ferry ride over to the site, we spent a...More

Thanks for your lovely review Jacob. Yes, a visit to Orakei Korako is the perfect break if you're travelling between Taupo and Rotorua (especially if you're in a self-contained campervan as you can stay overnight and enjoy the spectacular views at sunset and sunrise). If...More

We got the boat across and followed the signs to do a lap of the area and we are so glad we did! There weren’t many other visitors so it was nice and quiet. The scenery was unreal! Pools bubbling and steaming away, like something...More

We loved this place!! So much to discover on the walk around the park: mud pools, geysers, bizarre cave, colourful flats. Even a rock shaped like an elephant. And we had it all to ourselves as we caught the first boat over. Our 6 year...More

We found Orakei Korako’s website and decided to visit while in Taupo rather than heading to Rotorua. We were very happy with our decision. We visited in the middle of the day on a Monday outside of NZ school holidays. There were a few other...More

Thanks for your review EJ! Yes indeed, we've got just about everything you might expect of a geothermal park. I particularly like the view of the silica terraces (the largest in NZ) as you approach them on the ferry.

Its often hard to find places to go with dogs but this was a great day out. Great colour's and Geyser activity. Easy pace stroll around and good paths.

This is a wonderful place to visit. A good range of geysers, bubbling hot springs, terraces, and mud pools, but probably the most lovely is that it is set within fantastic native bush in a way that you don't get at the other geothermal parks...More
