There are lots of catacombs under the city of Odessa, Ukraine. Limestone dug from the tunnels was used to construct buildings in the city. We explored the catacombs with a guide from The Viking River Cruise Ship Sineus. During WWII Soviet partisans used the tunnels...More

We went with a group of 5 people and it was in my opinion the best size for the group, since it would not be expensive and you can hear and see everything the guide is speaking and showing. We had an excellent guide by...More

It well worth the drive. Despite being mostly the mock-ups, as original locations are much farther deep into the mines. Nevertheless it offers a very good impression of what it was - to live and fight under ground without light

I had a private tour of the Odessa Catacombs and it was a historical and educational experience. It was simply amazing, an experience I'll never forget. The first underground stone mines started to appear in the 19th century while vigorous construction took place in Odessa....More

This was a pleasant history and educational place to visit while in Odesa. It was interesting to see how the people of Odesa resisted and survived during the war. Also amazed to learn how many miles of "catacombs" actually exist here.

This was a fascinating lesson in learning how the partisans lived during WW2. They made ammunition, communicated with the outside world, made meals, schooled their children and made a difference in the quest to win the war. You walk down gradually to a lower level...More
