no pictures allowed of the Buddha. It is massive and can get busy with tourists, but the museums on the property were lovely.

Worth the visit. The reclining Buddha is really big. There are also many statues and ancient boos in the museum.

Other than the huge Reclining Buddha, there are also precious ancient Buddhist scriptures in another hall that were hidden behind walls and survived the cultural revolution.

Fun to see the giant and famous reclining Buddha statue and to explore the temple grounds - it's a lovely, quiet oasis in Zhangye. Worth a visit.
