All around is natural beauty. You can see half dome and elcapitan. You can also see the falls from here.

When whites moved here they thought what a great place to farm and ranch. They also drained the wetlands and built a town. The Park Service is in the midst of removing all of that so it looks a bit more natural.

The sun is still up at 7 p.m. in August, so you won't be driving in the dark.

I think the Valley Shuttle would be a very good option. Parking is very limited, so is your time. The shuttle had designated parking spots and you hop out snap a few pics and hop back on. The ranger talks in between

Do not miss visiting Glacier Point which provides fantastic views down into and across the valley. It was the highlight of my visit.
