Easy parking and access. Some of the steam vents are fully visible from the parking lot with many others close by. Short walk to the edge of the crater with a magnificent view.

This is a deceptively easy hike along a beautiful yet rugged part of nature. Unfortunately, while walking along the trail between the Volcano House and the Steam Vent parking lot, the area 6 inches to the side of the packed dirt trail gave way when...More

Neat experience! Wasn’t expecting them to be that hot, but walking past one, my sunglasses fogged up and it felt like a sauna! Definitely recommend!

After visiting Volcano House and the park's visitor center in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, our tour continued on to the Steam Vents parking lot. We walked through a grassy meadow to the caldera's edge. From this paved path, we could see steam billowing out of...More

Changes have made this park a disappointment from what it once was. The Jagger Museum is closed and that was the best spot for viewing the volcano at night, which now probably does not have the red glow with the changes from the eruption.

The steam vents are quite a phenomenon, the heat, the sulphur smell, the mineral colors, it's all pretty cool (well, warm actually). There's a short hiking trail which goes from hear the visitor center over to the steam vents, there are additional steam vents along...More

Great little hike to see the steam vents. It's quite an incredible sight to see, so much steam and beautiful scenery.

With the damage to the park, this is one of the few spots that one can look down into the crater. Good ranger led discussion at the crater edge (check the times on the NPS board at the Kilauea Visitor Center) that discusses a good...More

No. The lava covered everything in and around Kapoho, Champagne Ponds and the Red Road from the 4 corners stop sign all the way to McKenzie State Park. :(
