Not as epic as some of the natural wonders elsewhere in Iceland but a very beautiful sight. Hraunfossar and it's neighbour Barnafoss take maybe 40 minutes to walk around on good paths with viewing platforms. Good facilities on site. Excellent cakes from the cafe.
Water comes straight out of the lava rock rather than a river, so it is unique. You get a good look at the river before hiking a short distance to beautiful little Barnafoss. It is near Reykholt and easy to find.

This place is worth visiting, I enjoyed walking along the waterfall..the scenery is beautiful but it would be better if it wasn’t snowing with winds on that day..one can also walk up to see Barnafoss..
This waterfall is 750 m long and pours from a lava field in a series of waterfalls. It then flows into Barnafoss(Children's Waterfall). This is a set of short rapids that cuts through a narrow canyon.When frozen, the sights are spectacular
