Walk from the small square towards the castle and ‘enjoy’ all the souvenir shops. When you expect a real Bazaar, you will be very disappointed. As such, it’s ok, but not great.

Quaint streets good for shopping, strolling or having a beverage or snack. At the moment, the streets are being refurbished with new cobblestones. It will be beautiful when all is done. Lots of souvenirs available at reasonable prices. The beautiful architecture, typical of Gjirokaster, can...More

Part of the reason this town is so charming is the beautiful restoration of the bazaar area. Lovely shops and restaurants with reasonably and nice crafts.

The area has been over-restored and, although the shops contain some tourist merchandise that is probably slightly above average for these places, there is no longer any magic in the setting. Many of the best restaurants are there, so you will see it anyway -...More

Such a pretty part of town with newly refurbished paving. Very friendly locals and plenty of bars and restaurants to sit and watchbtge world go by. Certainly one of the most charming areas of Gjirokaster.

The bazaar is very well preserved and restored and cascades attractively down the steep hill of a Gjirokaster old town. However, as with all these places, it has been turned over fully to tourism and is dominated by food and drink outlets and tacky tourist...More

When we were visiting they were doing contruction. Unfortunately, this will result in very clean looking, up to date, very safe, and very boring cookie cutter shops with your typical tourist stuff.

UNESCO heritage, stunning old city roads and souvenir shops and cafés all around. I loved the little cafes and seeing the locals be so welcoming, especially that Albanians are known for their great hospitality. One of the evenings, a group of old men were dressed...More

Nice to stroll around the area. Unfortunately they were busy renovating the streets while I was there. Don't know when they'll be done. But this shouldn't ruin your visit. There are many souvenir shops and restaurants in this part of town.

I had lunch at Kujtimi and I was happy with the food and service. I only suggest it for nice weather though, sitting outside is very nice. Inside area is small and I did not enjoy it much. In the same area I tried Kodra and... More
