The building is designed according to a Victorian style. The square and the surroundings are also nice for a walk. There is a statue of Nelson Mandela at the entrance. Recommend to visit.

We went to a classic concert rehearsal and it was great. First arrived, first serve so we could get a balcony. The sound travels well so we had an excellent time.

The City Hall building in Cape Town is a magnificent architectural work. There is a life size statue of Nelson Mandela at the site where he gave his first speech after he was released from prison. The square in front of the city hall is...More

The architecture of this grand city hall is exceptional and overlooks the original parade ground square. We could not go inside but just viewing it on the outside was satisfying. They recently put a statue of Mandela right in the front where he made his...More

I remember this building for Nelson Mandela's speech after he was released from prison. There was so much anticipation. He stuck to his guns and read the same speech given at his trial after which he was given a life sentence in 1962. It was...More

And you get a picture near Nelson Mandala's statue (at least close to the balcony). The building itself was not open to visitors when we were there.

City Hall in Cape town features the balcony from which Nelson Mandela gave his famous speech on his release in 1990. That's a good enough reason to visit it, but the building is pretty impressive regardless of it's history.

This is a nice older historical building in central Cape Town. I enjoyed seeing it because it is so different than most of the rest of the modern city. Also, this building has a great prominent location in the city, plus there are lots of...More

you can only view the facade and not enter the building. There has just been erected a statue of Mandela to mark his 100 years on the balcony where he gave his speech. Made it worth stopping off at briefing.
