Going to the Mendenhall Glacier and it's visitor center is a 1st time visitor staple. I found that at the visitor center the staff was extremely informative about the history of the glacier and the surrounding areas. They had fantastic photography of what the glacier...More

Well worth the trek to see this glacier. Spectacular scenery and views. Visitor centre is also well worth a visit where local rangers will explain all you wished to know.

This is a beautiful Visitor Center with loads of information. There are different Ranger talks and other displays to learn from. It is definitely worth your while to watch the movie that is shown as well. Don't forget to get your Park stamp while there.

We've visited here twice. Our latest trip was a stop in November 2018. The Visitor Center was closed, but we were still able to walk along the paths and get a great view of the glacier. In the summer, the center is open, but packed.

We spent quite some time in the visitors centre looking at the exhibits and listening to the informative staff. Best of all on the way back to coach we saw a black bear !

My newly husband and I spent a few hours walking around the tails and enjoying the beauty of nature has to offer. We really enjoyed the fresh air and just taking in how beautiful the Glacier looked.

There are options in port to book...if they are full (as they were when we were there) take the bus trip into the National Forest, its worth a look.

No - I did not see any assistance available for elderly visitors. In fact, my elderly husband stayed in the Visitors' Centre whilst I did the long walk to the Waterfall. Be aware that there is also not a lot of seating... More
