After being to several towns like this I would say this is nothing that special. Goods for sale such as clothes, souvenirs, toys and appliances. Also a lot of food places. The town is small. It's a nice little place though.

... you are looking for a typical small water town near Shanghai, which ist not full of tourist groups. Old houses, some bridges and the two stone pagodas in the 'city center'. We enjoyed the dumplings served at many places. Just walk around and feel the atmosphere.
