Loved all the little shops, Sake tastings, restaurants and hidden places. I would recommend going there by the day but also by night.
Enjoyed browsing the shops. The day we went there were s many tourists(including myself) that it did take a away from the experience a bit, but there is a reason that people are there and gives a good feel for old Japanese buildings.
The historic main streets filled with shops and food stores offering traditional Takayama fond goods. The streets and bridges constructions are full of old memories.
Several streets filled with artisan crafts, sake tasting and other foods. Many unique gifts. Take the time to stroll and check out the old houses.
Had no expectations of the old town, as we decided to check this area out since our hotel is 5 mins walk away. Lotsa tourists but less than expected as its a Monday late afternoon when we explored. Quite a nice walk, just chilled around and checked out different souvenir…
