What a great place to take a day trip from Buenos Aires, just a couple of hours on the ferry across to Uruguay, great colonial era architecture, some cool boutique shops and some pretty good restaurants..

Interesting day trip Might be cool to hang out if you have time. Pretty quiet, but interesting. Short ferry ride from BA

Interesting town with lots of historic buildings. The Portugese and Spanish influences in the buildings tells an interesting story. In some places the cobblestone street surfaces are quite uneven. Wear appropriate shoes. The entire town is very clean.

This is a part of a stone wall that was once the entrance to town. Nothing spectacular. What you see is what it is.

If you go to colonia del sacramento it's worth walking to Puerta de la Ciudadela. Colonia del Sacramento is a very beautiful city and my boyfriend and I regretted we didn't sleep over. Nice and cozy restaurants with candle light... beautiful place !

The kids enjoyed climbing the wall from the other side and enjoyed playing with the cannons. It’s not big but nicely done.

Beautiful area. You do not need more than an hour and half to visit the whole thing. Good restaurants.

This gate was how everyone entered and exited the old Portuguese Fort called La Colonia del Sacramento. The walls and gate kept out the local natives, the Charruas.

The tourist area and museums are small. This is a place you would spend an afternoon at while driving somewhere. Walked down to the old bull ring which is a nice walk then spent time at the museums and the old town. Got back to...More
