One of the main reasons for a day-trip fro Sofia, the old theatre is rather something. Well worth an hour of your time in this lovely old town.

Hard to believe this currently out of the way place would have been a city of the Romans 2 millenia ago, complete with a major theater, still used today and a 30,000 seat circus for horse racing. Very nice setting with great views for a...More

Quite stunning roman theatre remains perched on top of the hill. Can walk about on the marble tiered seating imagining what it must have been like in roman times.

The Roman theatre is on top of a small hill which is directly across from the walking street, easy walk, good view. The theatre is still in use. I’ve never seen anything here but it’s awesome that it’s still active

This is in the Old Town, where the winding cobbled streets suddenly open out onto this gleaming white theatre. It's huge, impressive and you really imagine the townspeople being here centurie ago. Really worth seeing. As it's Bulgaria there are lots of steps.

An extremely charging place. We are left with ancient times to be used by today's civilization for the same purpose. Last night, for example, I watched the opera Aida, it was so impactful, as if I had been carried over to the time of the...More

The place is very exciting! There is a lot of history around the theater itself. Museums, movie screenings and theatrical performances will await you if you visit this ancient and amazing place!

Full of history, gorgeous views, still used today. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the unattractive fence around it.

I used Dinars in Serbia. I have not been to Romania; only saw it across the Danube river.

I haven't seen a ramp for wheelchairs and in general the access to the place to start with will be very tricky - the old town is mostly laid with cobble stones and on foot it can be tricky, let alone with a helping vehicle... More
