The National Theatre was very close to my Hotel, and even though I did not get to see a show there, I could tour the building and found that it was an architectural marvel, a jewel of the Austro-Hungarian Imperial building style!
This theatre is located on Trg Republike Hrvatske (Republic of Croatia Square). This square is the last in the arc of eight green squares that formed Lenuci's Horseshoe. Well-known Viennese architects Ferdinand Feliner and Herman Helmar were responsible for the plans for this building.
