Another area of the site that has now been classed as a "temple" even there are no written records of what the Incas actually used it for. What's rare about is that a) the windows are large b) they are framed by very large lintels...More

This is in the center of the Machu Picchu ruins, so it is in an area where most people go. The shape of the stones is very interesting, as their placement to the path of the sunlight.

Incas were very clever and thanks to their architecture, the temples / constructions are still there!! The visit is part of Machu Picchu. You'll find similar windows in Cusco in Qorikancha

This temple is part of the main complex at MP. The construction of the temples shows how superb the In a engineering was. This temple will be part of your guided tour of the site.

As we stood in the Temple of Three Windows the clouds began to lift on our rainy day visit. I could feel a spiritual lifting and asr the light dispersed the gray and Machu Picchu came to life. A special place and a special moment.

This particular site, the "Three Windows" sounds like no big deal except for the amazing construction, however there are three options of understanding contained there. First, the windows to the upper world, the Earth world and the world below. Second, the past, present and future....More

Our guide said that these three windows represented the three realms: heaven, earth and hell and may have had a part in some of the solstice ceremonies It was amazing to see and to wonder how they got these stones in place.
