Loved people watching and enjoying the outdoors. The weather was wonderful while we were there and the park is close to a lot of restaurants and cathedrals.

As is common in many of Ecuador's plazas, it is part park with many trees, hedge-lined paths and grassy areas. It is very busy with shoe-shiners and ice-cream sellers, but they don't hassle you at all. It is the centre of town, so is close...More

The hub of downtown Cuenca and the site of the truly stunning church, this square is filled with wonder. Local sweets being sold along the street, shoe shine stands that are eager to please, everything comes together as one symphony of Ecuador! Enjoy!

This is a great place to people watch, read or just relax. well manicured gardens, many comfortable benches and not too many vendors. Really a peaceful oasis in the heart of the old city.

This was a very nice place. Every night I was there live music was being performed. There were also many nice places to eat. Locals seemed to enjoy it and was just a fun, relaxing way to spend the evening.

In the centre of the town is Parque Abdón Calderón, named after a hero of Ecuador’s war of independence who was born in Cuenca. The old cathedral and new cathedral (called the Cathedral de la Inmaculada Concepción) are on opposite sides of this central square,...More

Lovely big square in the centre of the city only two blocks from our hotel Carvello, two cathedrals are situated at the top and bottom and there are lots of locals mingling and sitting on the benches under shady trees. We returned at 5pm to...More
