I was really disappointed with this library that didn’t allow any talking anywhere in the library, such an outdated idea. Libraries are now busy and noisy places. Disappointed that we weren’t allowed to take photos. I have no idea why. As a librarian I like...More

I traveled to HK explicitly to use this library for historical research, so my experience was different from that of a casual tourist visit. That said, except for two rather nasty bureaucrats I encountered at the Membership Desk, my 6 days in this library were...More

Between the toy library, the entire second floor dedicated for children... this library has so many books that it’s hard not to like. The children’s section is particularly nice with all of our favourite books. Would highly recommend to go with families and especially on...More

More impressive than the sheer size of this library is that everyone inside is on his or her best behavior. Notable for a city that is so loud and vibrant. It is a true mindful oasis. The views from the upper floors are memorable. It...More

This is the biggest public library in Hong Kong. You can find many Chinese and English books here. A great place to spend a day.

The library is a calm and impressive building. I enjoyed the visit as a rest from the quick and noisy streets in HK, although I didn’t look through the books carefully.

A great place to escape the noise and chaos of the Hong Kong streets. This modern, multi-level library is a wonderful way to spend a few quiet hours lost in books. There is a tremendous selection of English language books, magazines and newspapers. There are...More

Yes when I first went I was not a member but you will need to register in order to borrow books. As a place to walk in and read/work though, it’s open to anyone.
