This is an area of Beijing which is very different to the crowded centre. It’s an area of narrow streets and alleys that you can walk around and see the capital from a locals perspective. Unfortunately for the residents these areas are being demolished by...More

Had the privilege of staying at one of the hotels located in this hutong. We shifted to another hutong lane a few days later and could immediately tell that shijia hutong is better maintained than the other. Shijia was much cleaner and there were efforts...More

Wander into this small streets and alley and glimpse into the traditional house and way of life. Away from the very modern Beijing. No doubt a bit of getting used to it but you come away appreciate more on Beijing and life.

Had fun seeing the old hurting. It’s a very smart area that this was preserved. Some nice, small, old family homes, shops. Worth a visit

I am happy that I visited the Hutong area. Also, I took toured an individual complex and learned a lot during the tour. The tour afforded me a look into the traditional living style in Beijing and how difficult life can be. Highly recommend!
