These obelisks were as far as I went into Karnak. It was very hot and I was tired. This is a big place (68+ acres, I think).

It is hard to imagine this obelisk being cut from a single piece of granite and then transported to this location at the time it was actually created. Truly incredible. Worthy art and artifact.

The grand scale at which these were constructed is mesmerizing. One cannot easily imagine how bright these were in ancient times when the top was still covered in the reflective limestone they used.

These obelisks were chiseled out of one piece of granite then transported here from a quarry many many Km's away! They are smooth with carvings. Just incredible how the craftsman of the day using what we would call primitive tools could create such a structure.

This obelisk towers up into the sky, with all the stories and diagrams written all around it - quite remarkable like so much in Egypt

The obelisk of Hatshepsut is the tallest in Egypt, it can be seen from various places in Karnak complex. For the most part in very good condition.

I must have taken at least ten photo's of these from different angles. They are amazing to think how they got them there. Another tick off the bucket list.
