If you only have a few days to spare in Hanoi, this is where you want to be. Rows and rows of shops selling everything from cinnamon to cabinet handles, coffee joints, restaurants and bars to give you the essence of Hanoi. Would come again...More

Although parts have become a little touristy, there is always something interesting to see as you wander around this area - food, daily life, shops. Good area to stay in as quite central.

Lots of places to eat/coffee/drinks/shopping. Also lots of congestion. Nothing really stood out for me.

The old quarter offers the buzz of Hanoi. Super busy streets lined with street food vendors, and a few quieter ones with restaurants too. There's a Sunday market offering the usual "made in Vietnam" goods. Fun place to explore.

A great experience to see what Vietnamese life is like. Food is terrific. Once you understand how to cross a road it is great fun.

If you go to Ha Long Bay or anywhere down South to beach areas, I would bring my own swimmers. Also, some hotels in Hanoi have pools, even some hotels in Sapa have heated pools.

I didn't see any in the old quarter but I saw plenty on my trip south to the Mekong Delta, more rural & better to see the more traditional way of living. 😊
