Stopped in fes before starting my Sahara tour ending in marrakech. We opted for a guided tour from Airbnb experiences and I'm glad we did. You can easily get lost in this maze called the medina. You'll find things here that you won't find in...More
The cultural experience of the Médina left we wanting more! The food and culture of the Médina gives you a first hand taste and experience of the richness ancient traditions in our modern day! I will return time and again.
This was a lot of fun. It’s exactly what you would expect. So many streets, very easy to get lost. Use Google maps to help, though it can still be tricky!

Yes you can visit Fez without a guide if you only want to explorer the Médina shopping area. If you want to explorer deeper and see the Palace, garden, tannery, Mount Zalagh.....you would be able to do these in one day, but I would suggest hiring a guide. Your hotel should be able to find a good guide for you. This would also depend on which hotel you are staying at.
Perfect day to go check out the Roman Ruins or take an adventure out of town to some of the sites. The medina is really closed and you will be disappointed, as it is a very vibrant place when it is open.
