Unless your into military history, you might find it rather boring. It was interesting walking around and getting a rather detailed account of the local history.

A must visit if you are keen to learn about our Australian history. Make sure you take a tour as the guides are amazing and passionate about sharing information on our history. There is also a café onsite and it’s very close to St Marys...More

It was closed for refurbishment but this impressive reminder of our Colonial past is worth some comment even with an external view only on this occasion. Opened in 1819 the three story building was designed to house convicts and other undesirables such as (wait for...More

The Hyde Park Barracks is probably one of the first destinations that I would recommend to those wanting a greater understanding of Sydney's past. I found that the Barracks were very authentic (as the museum about the building was in the building itself). In particular,...More

This outside building, not far from Hyde Park, appears to be a quick stroll through but there is so much more story to be unraveled. On the exteriors of the barracks there is a cafe that has delicious foods, drinks and some outdoor seating in...More

This museum was closed when we visited Sydney due to refurbishment which will apparently transform it into a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Great looking building from the outside so it is somewhere we would certainly choose to visit when next in Sydney.

We visited when the christmas markets were on- the market was quaint and the stalls were of a high standard. Entry to the markets was a gold coin donation and the museum was open for free to market goers. We really enjoyed the museum and...More

Was very disappointed that the museum is closed for refurbishment when I visited. Had heard fantastic things about the museum from my local tour guides and from family and friends who had visited before. I look forward to visiting in the future.

Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with
energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise
buildings and after-work drink places, high-end
shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens
