This temple is almost 3 hours drive by scooter from Ubud market.People generally reach there and directly start taking photographs for which you have to be in queue and wait time can be 1 to 2 hrs depending upon the crowd. There are 5 temples...More
My boyfriend and I came here as part of a tour so we left Kuta at 4:30am and arrived around 6am. There was already quite a long queue, you have to grab a number (we were like #63) and then they'll call you up to...More
Be careful and consider please if you are travelling here and looking for something amazinggg because nothing else but getting to wait in line over 3h for some gorgeous photos taken with famous sun gate (A gate, not a gate with lake). We were starting...More
It's the worst place you can go in whole Bali. There are just 200+ instagrammers waiting im a cue to get a fake picture at the gate, which for your information has no water beneath, it's just an optical illusion you get by paying some...More
New comer must have a millions of patience waiting for the queu but don’t worry you’ll not be waiting under the sun, they have a cool place to sit and wait for your turn. Don’t go too early co’z the photo will have a foggy...More
This place was amazing. The architecture and the culture is breathtaking. The only things that let it down was us, the cue was 2 hrs long and the facilities around it eg toilets were absolutely disgusting. Worth the trek but be aware.
It is nice to go there and a have a look around, but to do just a simple picture in the "gate of Heaven" you have to wait 2 hours minimum. Better to do a little bit down the hill which is the same view...More
We left Legian at 5.30 and drove 2.5 hours to see the famous gates. Our reason for going was to get a great family photo. I was a little disappointed at the wait times (3.5 hours from arriving) and the lack of information available regarding...More
I've come away from the temple feeling so empty. The opposite how I should feel from visiting a temple right?!
Vanity was in my face everywhere I looked. We all like nice pictures, (I'm a photographer myself and love an Instagram feed) but visiting this...More
It was a bit dissappointing when we reach and see that we almost did not have to walk to reach the main temple. We had to drive 2 hours from Ubud - the landscape it totally worth it, this is true - but then we...More

I think you must prepare two hours for your ride( the return may be quicker), if you start at 6 a.m. (I also had the same ride from Legian Beach in last August), the traffic is very smooth. After 7 a.m., it jams all the time during weekday, especially in Kuta Beach. How long should you stay at the temple? the most important thing depends on whether you walk uphill from the bottom (around four hours) or your car takes you up directly to the ticketing office at the top. As the tourists usually flood in at 8 a.m., and the waiting queue for shooting should be at least three hours. If you simply take your photos behind the assigned photographer, I think the duration of stay should down to around one hour.

Hi Ahmed Z. If you mean you self driving, I might not really recommended as East Bali traffic and route quit tricky with truck and also so much turning. But if you hire car and driver yes of course, its might take 2 hours to 2 and half hours drive from Kuta without traffic. Can be 20-30 mins more with traffic. If you plan to take the pictures on the gate, to avoid lining or queuing my recommendation come earlier, be at the temple round 8-9 am. Not recommended when you start trip by noon or afternoon as it might just wasting time queuing and lining among others tourist to taking picture in the gate. You also can contact adimelali on tripadvisor for transport assistance for this trip, as they specialties east Bali trip.
