Visiting this castle and its excellent grounds is a must. The guided tour gave us so much information about the time period and furnishings. It's not very long so the tour isn't overwhelming. Plan to picnic on the lovely grounds.

A more interesting story than a stop in the winter. In the summer you can play foot golf, though, which apparently saved the island from being raised for low-income housing. Very friendly dog and good history.
This is definitely worth a visit amazing history attached to the castle.The forest behind the hotel is a magical place with fabulous amount of wildlife and if u can make it the top of the mountains well trust me it's a treat.
The castle was not open for interior tours when we were there- only cafe with lovely courtyard for teas and coffee. Beautiful day. We were able to walk about half the castle exterior.
