Joshimath, also known as Jyotirmath, is a city and a municipal board in Chamoli District in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located at a height of 6150 feet, it is a gateway to several Himalayan mountain climbing expeditions, trekking trails and pilgrim centres like Badrinath.

This is newly renovated temple at Joshimath. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, in the incarnation of Narsinha. It is believed that Narsinmha killed Hiranyakashpu and was in very anger at that time. All the Gods made him calm and quite at this place.

Apart from religious reasons this place is beautiful and lots of interesting treks ...to indulge in the origin of Saraswati is here disappears in a deep Gorge a sight to behold for eternity.

Nothing much to see. If you have time see joshimath and Narsingh temple. Use it as a stop over. Or miss it

Last week of July doesn't experience much rush in Joshimath. So no real need for pre booking for hotel accommodation. But it would be better to book in GMVN Resthouse (a Govt. Chain of accommodation)as its better and cheaper... More

Hi Harish, If you want to go to ramnagar from joshimath. You can either take a taxi ie jeep or bolero... or you can take a bus to reshikesh n then take a private taxi from there which should cost you less... the total... More
