We took the cable car. The starting point is situated some 1500 m uphill from the town centre. Austrian made machinery that worked as clockwork ( at least part 1, part 2 was not in operation). On the way back, there is a wide view...More

We approached the mountain by car. We stopped at the hikers cafe. We dont like to hike so we stayed there. If you want to go near with car you need a 4x4 with 4LLC. DONT TRY WITH A NORMAL CAR!

Mount Ushba is a really majestic mountain which you can see from Ushguli. It reminded me a bit of two "Matterhorns", its surroundings of Switzerland. Nature is incredibly beautiful in Upper Svanetia. Go and see yourself.

Take a hike or be ferried up to the cross, where the views of Mt. Ushba are impressive. In May, you are surrounded by wildflowers. The hike is not easy.

I was amazed to when I saw Ushba, it has a unique summit and is different from other mountains. Surrounding area is great for a hike, I am talking about Aug, not sure how it would be in other months

This peak is somehow different from the other wonderful Caucasian peaks... also it is very hard to climb as far as I know. the best view you can easily find from the Hatsvali Ski Resort near Mestia.
