The Lion’s fountain was, to us, the hub of Heraklion. People spend time sitting in the restaurants that surround it, and there is always a ‘buzz’

This is the most central spot in the old town of Heraklion. The fountain is surrounded by stores and restaurants (mainly ice cream and yogurt bars). It’s a great place to spend some time chilling.

Good place to just hang out and use as a meeting point when walking around the shopping area. Everyone knows where it is so you can use it to regather if you separate from your traveling companions.

Surrounded by eating/drinking establishments on 25 Augustou Street. A relaxing area to rest whilst admiring the decorated fountain comprising eight cisterns and decorated with stone figures from Greek mythology, nymphs, tritons and monsters.

On a Friday evening we sat and watched the passing parade. Many people were dancing and a band was about to play.
