We came here on a Sunday when it is free entry (worth noting that it closes at 2.30 on Sundays). Set in the old parliament building with plenty of interest to look at including a temporary exhibition, it's a short walk from Syntagma Square.

This was probably the least favorite museum I have ever been to. It is a teaching museum for bus loads of young steaming kids. Stay away if you are not local and save your euros. The exhibits are juvenile and ugly.

The National Historical Museum (Greek: Εθνικό Ιστορικό Μουσείο,[1] Ethnikó Istorikó Mouseío) is a historical museum in Athens. Founded in 1882, is the oldest of its kind in Greece. It is located in the Old Parliament House at Stadiou Street in Athens, which housed the Hellenic Parliament from 1875 until 1932.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum. The artifacts displayed are accompanied by interesting explanations in both Greek and English. The World War 1 exhibit is laid out well and presented to maintain interest. I’m glad I visited!
