In order to see the riberia your should go over the Luis bridge from above (where the metro runs) and from below (where the cars go)

The Ribeira is a popular district for locals and tourists alike--awash in good restaurants, street scenes, street performers, artists and general bonhomie. The setting alongside the Rio Douro is fantastic. Not to be missed on any trip to Porto.

I don't think there's a market in the Zona Ribeirinha. But the Mercado do Bolhão is worth a visit though.

Yes,it never stops,regardless of the day.Obviously summer months are usually busy,and probably with more local people.very nice atmosphere
