The infamous Eiger North Face can be observed really well when walking down from the Kleine Scheidegg mountain to Grindelwald. You can very easily get up there by train. Along the way you see the nakeshift monument for the many mountaineers whom did not return...More
One can see it from many places in the area, and it is always impressive. The best way to view it is to walk towards it from Mannlichen and then arrive in Kleine Scheidigg and bask in its towering shadow
Sorry, I’m having a difficult time trying to decide if the Eiger is more beautiful as the suns first rays hit its topmost peak or as you near it on the Kleine Scheidegg trail. Regardless, I doubt I shall forget my day in its hypnotic...More
Love to photograph the Eiger - so many gorgeous views and because of its distinctiveness it is always easy to identify. I think my favorite view is covered with snow on a sunny day - Eiger just glistens in the light! But with green grass...More
I stayed in Grindelwald, and had a balcony room view of the Eiger. Imposing to say the least. Skiing in Kleinne Scheidegg has you sking toward and from the Eiger North Wall on certain runs, and it's hard to imagine a more stunning backdrop
Best viewed from the village of Grindlewald in the vicinity of the Bebbis Restaurant, the north Wall is terrifying. Fancy a rock climb of 3,000 feet? Often you can see idiots risking their lives doing it. The scenery though is stupendous - do not miss

The train journey is around 2 hours each way. Price is roughly CHF 120 return. You can buy a discount pass that gets a 50% reduction - worthwhile if you will be doing a reasonable amount of travelling in Switzerland. I would not plan on doing much skiing- after the tome and expense, you will want to spend a decent amount of time at the Jungfraujoch. Make sure you choose a nice day - it's a lot of money if you only see the inside of a cloud at GE top.
