I've noticed the reviews regarding visitor's disappointment at not being able to get in to view. We were strolling past about an hour and a half before it was due to close and went in on impulse. There was no queue at all, and this...More

Visited the Basilica twice; the first time, to admire its interiors, the second, to attend Friday mass. The interiors especially the areas around the altar, and stain glass windows are beautifully serene. There are several sculptured tombstones of various luminaries , on the right wall;...More

Once again we weren't able to go inside but the outside was breathtaking. The architecture was mind-blowing. My favorite statue was right outside, Dante. His expression was filled with anx. He just wanted to come home.

Spectacular church full of artwork. Much better than Duomo and no crowds. The adjoining piazza is also worth a visit for lunch

Tickets needed, but do it! Fabulous Franciscan church with some of the earliest images of St Francis and his companions; a Donatello Annunciation that will leave you breathless; a monument to Florence Nightingale (named for the city of her birth)...

This beautiful church is somewhat overshadowed by the Duomo but it is a wonderful building and the area is nice for a wander round and a bit less packed too!

The Santa Croce is a fourteenth century church near the heart of Florence. The size of the church is very impressive and includes tombs of many famous Florentines. Be sure to visit the attached leather makers school and shops.

I don’t think you will need to pre purchase a ticket for this church. The line to get in was not long and I only had to wait 10 minutes
