Every "historical center" in Italy has a pedestrianized "shopping street" with restaurants, cafes, and shops catering to tourists. I find most of these uninteresting. Corso Umberto is better than most. More of the offerings were unique and original than other places on our trip.

Hello Magda, only just seen your question, so late replying. My wife and I spent a fantastic week in Taormina, which is a beautiful and vibrant place to stay. Thankfully it wasn't to busy so we had not trouble booking restaurants and always getting a seat at our favourite bars.
We were not there in February, but as with other resorts, I should imagine that a lot of bars and restaurants may be closed, not sure about the shops though. I would imagine that if the weather is good it would still be worth a visit.
