Although the more recent ceiling frescoes are not up to the standard of what remained after 1943 bombing, the marble and stucco decorations of the entire inner fabric are simply incredible. A building of remarkable unity of form and no holds barred imagination.

I had only seen South East Sicilian baroque before. This was totally different. Completely over the top Counter Reformation decoration.

Beautifull, well kept small church in Palermo. Architectural icon. Not so popular in tourist's guides but it deserves all the credit.

View this building from ground level at Piazza San Domenic and then pop up to the roof bar on top of the department store next to it (no, really). Have a cocktail or a coffee and get a birds eye view of the piazza.
