This is a genuine bit of old Venice that hasn't changed significantly in more than 150 years. Relatively quiet, extremely photogenic and with a Cicchetti bar directly opposite on the other side of the canal.

Interesting place to see, but not much content other than, it’s a Gondola boatyard. Lack of smug ‘Gondoliers’ in striped shirts and no one singing the Cornetto song, I guess that is because when their boats are out of the water they are not sucking...More

This small boatyard makes and repairs gondolas. It is at the side of a picturesque canal in lovely laid back Zattere and you can see gondolas laid out in the open in various stages of repair. I was so pleased I visited this area and...More

One of the last remaining "Gondola" repair yards. This tiny boatyard was established during the 17th century. Once there was a fleet of 10,000 gondolas nowadays there is approximately 350 gondolas. This boat repair yard appears to repair a very high percentage of Venice's gondolas....More

This little area is one of the nicest places in Venice. Its away from the crowded tourist areas and some sort of little shipyard where Gondolas are made. The entire area looks very authentic and pitoresk. A must see when you're in Venice.

Every time we come to Venice, we seem to find our way back here. There is something magical that happens when you look across the canal and see this traditional gondola boatyard. Can you even think of Venice without thinking of gondolas? This is where...More

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
