I bought tickets for the Opera directly from La Fenice Theatre website and thought that I would be going to La Fenice itself, but this was wrong as Malibran is a completely different theatre in a different location. It’s not as impressive as La Fenice...More

The Malibran is the oldest theatre in Venice and specializes in presenting old and obscure operas. Although it has been renovated this theatre is well worth a visit if I my to take in the location.

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
