You have to walk the wall. It is just an incredible experience to walk on the wall that had been there for several hundred years walking in the same footsteps as so many others.

You must walk the medieval walls of Girona and the towers to see the best views of the city. You really shouldn’t miss this. And if you’re a photographer then all the more reason!

We walked from the section behind the cathedral to the very end (close to the river). It's not too strenuous, although there are a fair number of steps. The views of the old city (close up) and the mountains in the distance are fantastic. Be...More

Free to walk around, about a hundred amazing views. A reasonable level of fitness required. We did it in heavy rain so heat no problem.

Excellent trip, great views of the city of Girona and of the Pyrenees mountains. Complete immersion in the medieval history of this place. Going on the walls is a great extension of your visit to the Cathedral of Girona.

Fantastic walk and the place that you can see the city from above. There is also a cute little garden nestled between the walls and a cathedral. Must do when in Girona.

We walked the entire wall in the late afternoon and then again in early morning. Accessed one end by the Cathedral and the other end we actually passed on the way to the cathedral but didn't recognize it as an entrance. Very easy walk with...More

This is one of the many free beautiful walks you can do while visiting Girona, which is worth visiting for a few days. For those who like photography beyond using a phone, this is a great spot.

I would include Besalu. Take the bus from just off the Passeig de Gracia. Take the bus from there to Girona and train back to Barcelona. Very nice day trip.
