The architecture is beautiful in this rebuilt synagogue that was destroyed by the Nazis. The exhibition Open The Gates was a chilling recount of Nazi Germany and the hope that people remember to not let this happen again. We spent about 90 minutes walking through,...More

This place was a highlight of my sight seeing. It is so beautiful architecturally, and I was not expecting it to be as interesting as it was. I thought we would just be looking around a normal synagogue but this is filled with history about...More

Stiftung Neue Synagogue ( New Synagogue ) is without a shadow of a doubt the most beautiful and the most important landmark along Oranienburgerstraße. To me it's a standing miracle, constructed between 1859 - 1866 from designs by Eduard Knoblauch who unfortunately died in 1865,the...More

After our visit to the Friedrichstadt-Palast theater, we ate on Oranienburgerstrasse. While there we had the opportunity to see this structure. This 150 year old house of worship was once the largest synagogue in Europe and even survived Kristallnacht before being bombed in the war....More

This building in Oranienburger Strasse is one of the most interesting in the whole of Berlin, not only for its history, but also for its gloriously restaured dome.

But don’t expect to take pictures inside. They do not allow it. Also have to go through security checkpoint. There is a lot of history to see and understand.

The synagogue was large enough for 3,000 worshipers. It is disappointing though that it is simply a shell with exhibits. One should walk to the roof which I found interesting. Apparently the synagogue in Budapest is a must see. But to me only if one...More

There is a huge amount of security to get into the building. Understandable, but felt quite uneasy. Staff were not friendly or welcoming, felt uncomfortable. I have Jewish heritage and was very interested to see the Synagogue, lots of damage in the war and amazing...More

Having lived and worked in German-speaking countries previously, I thought that I (somewhat arrogantly) knew most of what there was to know about the Holocaust. The exhibition at the New Synagogue (originally the site of the Synagogue which was burnt down on Kristallnacht by the...More
